Music is the ultimate form of expression and communication because it can transcend all social boundaries – it can be easily felt and understood by all.  In fact, I see music as the great equalizer.  It puts us all on the same playing field so that, for a moment, we forget our differences though common emotional experiences.  It never ceases to amaze me how a collection of notes can evoke powerful emotions in us all.  There’s something about it that is deeply rooted in the human condition.  I suppose that I’ve always been drawn to music for that very reason.  Being painfully introverted, I found very early in life that I was best able to connect with others through music.  And, that it’s one of the cheapest (and most effective) forms of therapy there is.

A Floor Below isn’t just a project — it’s a long-term exploration of the experiences we all share. It represents the commitment that Joe and I share to creating honest, unfiltered music that doesn’t shy away from the darker, often overlooked parts of the human experience. We believe those shadows deserve to be faced, understood, and ultimately brought into the light. We’re here to build something lasting — with each other and with you. It’s music for humans, by humans. If any of our songs give you a place to stand, a way to process what you’re carrying, or help you understand yourself a little more clearly, then we’re doing exactly what we set out to do.
